Hi - my name is David Skeat and I am the National Director of ARMS. I am married to Marie and we have four wonderful children named Ben, Jem, Josh and Sarah, who range in age from 20 through to 33 years. Our two boys and oldest daughter are married and as a consequence we have been blessed with five beautiful grandchildren. (You can see some family pictures in my picture gallery above.)
Marie and I have been in YWAM for over 29 years. Currently Marie works as the the Office Manager of ARMS National Office part time and for another NGO also on a part time basis.
My office is located in beautiful Tasmania, Australia´s most southern state. I love my job and I have a passion to see the poor and needy reached in innovative ways. I really enjoy seeing the difference that ARMS is making in the many countries in which it operates. Sometimes the ideas that we put into practice in the field originate from our staff meetings. So it is a real thrill for me to see these ideas hatched and for them to become realities for those who are in need.
My job takes me to many places around the world to speak, lead teams and to help projects assess their work and to find better ways to reach their goals.
In recent times I have been on emergency teams to Iraq at the outbreak of the war, Aceh just after the to help in relief efforts with the Boxing Day Tsunami and more recently to Samoa where we responded to the tsunami disaster that hist that nation in October 2009. I also travel international and teach from time to time.
Like all ARMS staff I am a full time volunteer and draw no wage for my services. I am able to meet most of the costs of my travel and daily living expenses through the generosity of friends and supporters who recognize the value in the work I do.
