Caring for HIV/AIDS orphans and their families.
Home of the Open Heart is a project registered with the Thai foundation; Project L.I.F.E. (Living In a Family Environment). Our home was started by Penny Wilcox who sensed God´s call to assist families affected by HIV/AIDS. We are located in Chiang Rai, Thailand; the northernmost province of Thailand.
The vision of caring for these children and their families is threefold. Our focuses are on the following:
1. Orphan Care We seek to provide a small group home for HIV orphans who cannot be cared for by relatives. You can watch a video about our kids by clicking here!

2. Respite and Hospice Care We seek to provide an opportunity for respite and hospice care for destitute HIV+ mothers who have no other support system or family. We do this by providing small cottages for the mother and her children to live together. The eight bed room hospice will supply 24 hour nursing care to women in their final stages of AIDS who are no longer able to care for their babies.

3. Community Visits We seek to form a team that will visit families affected by HIV/AIDS in the surrounding area. We seek to assist families in the community with income-generation projects so they can support an orphaned relative when the mother has died of AIDS.
Ways that you can help! We need people to link with our ministry in serving orphans and widows and joining with our Thai staff and nannies in the care for them. We also are trying to raise support teams for our children and for our Thai staff. A sponorship is $32.00 a month. We also accept volunteer nannies who are able to come for six months to two years to care for our young children. Applications are available if you are interested, please email us!
