 International Projects
ARMS provide support and a limited number of small grants to projects outside of Australia that are serving the poor and needy.
In order to this ARMS firstly ascertains that each project is bona fide and works with the project leader in order to try and define the needs of the project that ARMS will be able to assist with.
ARMS then fund raises on behalf of that project making its needs known to a wide range of perspective donors, moneys are collected and the funding of the project commences.
Currently ARMS is financially assisting the following projects;
Setting up of Reverse The Curse Of Landmines in Cambodia. This project will provide employment, education and medical services to victims of landmines particularly amputees in Cambodia
Provision of a new ablution block and on going medical aid for a Bairo Pite Clinic located in Dili - East Timor. This clinic provides free medical services for the people living in the Bairo Pite district in Dili.
Provision of Medical supplies and equipment for Umm Qasr Hospital in Iraq. ARMS is assisting this hospital in re-establishing itself as a good provider of health care to the people of Umm Qasr
Provision of Preschool services to homeless and displaced children in Hera - East Timor. The Kids Ark will also set up a community based house that provides educational programs for kids unable to attend school as well as resources for poorer families in the Hera area. Details are available here.
Extension of village water supply and establishment of a Primary Healthcare Clinic in Weberek - East Timor. Details are available here.
Provision of emergency aid for Internally Displaced Peoples inside Burma. Details are available here.
Ongoing work with AIDS families and baby orphans through Home Of The Open Heart in Chiang Rai - Thailand. -This work has been long supported ARMS as it outreaches to AIDS victims and their families.
Operational costs of 2 preschools in the Mae-la refugee camp in Thailand. - This project aims to help these two ministries that are caring for a large number of traumatized children. We help to cover their operational costs and provide funding for their educational needs..
Building of housing for homeless families in East Timor. - ARMS are building houses in Dili where some families are still living in substandard housing and others under sheets of old rusty tin.
Educational Assistance For Street Kids In Bali. Families in this area are dependant on selling handmade items on the streets as a means of income, and usually it is necessary for them to have their children also work for long hours to assist with this. Now in this street community between 25 to 30 children aged between the ages of 4 - 12 are given the opportunity to attend school, their families given new hope that the cycle of poverty can be broken.
