RescueNet Deploys to Haiti Quake David Skeat Wednesday, January 13th 2010
An international RescueNet team is setting out to deploy into Haiti to repond to the disaster that is gripping the nation there.
Yesterday an earrhquake of 7.0 devastated the tiny Caribbean Island nation of Haiti and hundreds of thousands are thought to have been killed. Many thousands have been displaced.
Urgent calls for international assisitance have gone out and RescueNet is responding.
The RescueNet team will fly in from Australia, Holland and the US and deploy into Haiti from Miami. Medically trained disaster personnel will offer relief and emergency assistance to victims of the quake and will be working alongside the military and other NGOs who have also responded to the disaster.
Preparations for the deployment are in full swing as team members pack their equipment and head to the airport. This is the third disaster that RescueNet has responded to in the past 4 months.
Travel costs for this deployment will be high as tickets out of the US to Haiti are at a premium - it is going to cost $4000 per ticket for each Australian team member just for ari travel.
ARMS has launched and emergency appeal to help with the relief efforts in Haiti and help meet the costs of putting the team on site. Donations can be made through our secure site or you can use PayPal.

Simply enter in your credit card details and select Haiti Equake Appeal from the International Projects menu.
